A Place to Live.

Well we have finally moved into our own place. Downside is that it's a small apartment up three and a half flights of stairs. Upside is there are mountains in view on one side and overlooking Denver on the other. We really really owe Miles and Neesa so much for letting us stay with them. Without their generosity we would have really been homeless and super stressed.

Now that we have this place you all know that you are welcome to visit at any time. The only requirement is that you must bring wood for our fireplace. This is just a quick update and must end the post quickly since we are at the library and must run errands. We are still without internet access at the apartment so posts will be minimal. We are also without furniture still, but we hope to remedy this quickly. Check out our makeshift dining table.

Much love.

Sushi and Starvation

Sorry for the delay. Jacquelyn and I have been busy and being homeless is quite exhausting. That does not mean that we haven't been having a good time with our hosts. On Friday we went out for drinks and sushi at a place called Opal. They fed us large beers and delicious sushi to the background of very very loud House music. It was half dance club half restaurant. Naturally I loved it. Here are some pictures that we took at Opal and before leaving:

FOOD Arrives!

We decided not to hang out too late since the next day we were going to go visit Dane.

As usual, we were about two hours late getting to his house in the morning. This was actually a good thing seeing how Dane had only gotten out of bed about thirty minutes before we showed up. We weren't really sure what we wanted to do for our Saturday adventure, but we decided on another hike and Dane just started driving us North.

Dane decided to take us hiking on a trail that he mountain bikes in Walker Ranch Park. We drove through Boulder to access our first winding mountain road up a few thousand feet to the park. We didn't really see much of Boulder except for a few of it's really expensive houses along the way. Once the road hit the mountains it was incredible how quickly we were climbing above Boulder. It just became a small town below us. Here is a picture I tried to take on the way back down.

Once we reached the trail head we got all of our gear out and put it into my backpack only to realize we forgot our snacks. We just figured "Whatever" and started on the trail. About eight miles later we realized this was a very bad mistake.
The weather that day was quite nice. Sunny and warm even though there was still snow on the ground and for the average elevation being around 7000ft. So, we shredded most of our layers and sweat from time to time. It was nice to be in the mountains away from a city like Denver and Boulder. We really couldn't see anything largely man made besides the occasional train which could be seen in the distance. In the picture below you can barely see a train traveling on the mountain where the snow builds up into a straight looking line.
Its too hard to see maybe.

The trail was mostly just long climbs and descents. Quite tiring and hard on an empty stomach. Hey look our first fixer upper.
A bridge!
I claim this Farnsworth Falls II. We stopped here for a bit and naturally I got as close to the water as possible.
Our mountain guide Dane and his trusty dog Lucy.

This video does nothing for it. Sorry about my camera skills. I will improve.

Right after the falls we had to climb up what seemed like the tallest set of stairs I've ever climbed. This was the first time Jacquelyn and I could really feel the altitude difference. By the time we got to the top all of my blood was in my legs and my chest felt like it was going to cave in. Granted I probably could have taken a break, but I was compelled to try and push myself a little. I did have to stop for a second to laugh when Dane said, "Well your body is probably freaking out right now trying to produce as much hemoglobin as it possibly can". I am quite sure he was correct.

This is how amazing nature is. If a tree can't get any sun it grows an elbow.

The last half of the hike mostly consisted of us discussing everything food. We were almost to the point of just wanting to get to the end of the hike. I contented myself by munching on the different types of snow available to me. Snow crackers, while hard to come by since the top layer must be ice and the bottom side powder, I learned are quite tasty and refreshing. But the views were still awe inspiring. Did I mention that the trail was mostly snow even though most of the snow around it had melted.

Most annoying to walk in for four hours or so, but good for the legs I suppose.

Well we reached the end of the hike and piled back into the car exhausted but feeling great. Dane gave us a wild ride back down the mountains. Thank God for traction control. HA! Once back in Golden the three of us went and ate some really good Mexican food with many margaritas. It was a good weekend.

Since then it has been just work. We should be moving into our apartment this Friday with the possibility to move in sooner. We shall see. It is late right now and unfortunately for you Jacquelyn is asleep or else she would have corrected all of my grammar mistakes and made this post much easier to read. So I say Goodnight and much love.

Well... We're Here.

So, as you all know we have now moved to Denver, Colorado. Jacquelyn took a job with a company called ProDPI and they hired me on as a temp for the busy Christmas season. In following Kristin's blog, I thought it might be a good idea to start one of our own. This way you can follow up with us from a distance and still take part in what we are doing.

So we left Mom and Father's house at 4AM on Wednesday with our car loaded up with as much as we could fit into it. Since we had to be at work at 10AM on Thursday we got a hotel room for really cheap (smelled like pot) and stayed there for two nights. Wednesday night it snowed about half a foot and we woke up to this.

Not too bad but it continued to snow throughout the day.

Work was fine and the company we are working for is nice and relaxed. Jacquelyn is stretching canvases and I am just doing whatever they tell me, which mostly involves running around the building with pictures in my hands for shipping, cutting, or catching them as they are printed. More fun/stress than it sounds.

The weekend was a great time. Our original plan was to look for housing and apartments all day, but the first place we went to was too good to pass up. We put in our application and feeling rather confident decided to see what my good friend Dane was up too for the day. Dane lives in Golden, CO which is about 20 minutes away from where our new place is going to be. These are some photos of the area around Golden as we tried to find Dane's house.

Dane showed us the bike shop where he works in downtown which was awesome. Only high class/dollar mountain bikes. NOTHING ELSE. I must get a job there. Downtown Golden is small and a little touristy, but we ate at a nice bar and pizza joint that had snowboard paraphernalia everywhere. Awesome to say the least. The Coors Brewing Co is also in Golden. It just looks like a huge factory that is ugly, but here is the clear river that Coors made famous. Dane says that above the factory it is a clear river, below it is filled with silt, sludge, and smells like sulfur.

After food and a few brews was a 3 hour hike up Apex Mountain. The trails we walked were bike and hike trails which I can't wait to get in shape to ride. The thought of climbing that much makes my lungs burn already. Up this high we could see Denver in the distance clearly. The grey for that blocks the clarity of seeing the city is due to all of the smog it produces. We breathe this.

Here is Dane and his dog Lucy.

Lucy never stopped running. She would run herself to death.

As the sun started to go down we ran into about a foot of snow that had to be marched through. Father, thank you for giving me those boots. They were very warm. On the descent we could really see the city lights. Much fun for trying to pick out Dane's house.

The bright little thing in the distance is the football stadium. GO BRONCOS!!!

We went back to Dane's house where he made us an amazing dinner. Then we went back to Neesa's apartment where we have been staying. Neesa and Miles were kind enough to tell us not so spend our money on a hotel room and stay in their apartment. It has been a lot of fun and they are been very generous. The first night we all went out to Denver's First Fridays where we met some of Neesa's friends and saw some art.

So now we are staying around 7th and Corona in Denver Capitol Hill area and enjoying the city. We walk to the grocery store down the street and hang around waiting to move into our new apartment over by Green Mountain Park in Lakewood.

Here is us coming home from the famous 16th Street Mall in downtown Denver. It was snowing so even the city has a lot of accumulation.

A bush as it should be in winter.
